1st structure on Earth after the flood was an alter!

v18; And Noah went forth, and is sons, and his wife, and his sons’ wives with him:

v19; Every beast, every creepin thing, and every fowl, and whatsoever creepeth upon the earth, after their kinds, went forth out of the ark.

v20; And Noah builded an alter unto the LORD; and took of every clean beast, and every clean fowl, and offered burnt offerings on the altar.

God said have sex!

v15; And God spoke to Noah, saying,

v16; Go forth of the ark, thou, and thy wife, and thy sons, and thy sons’ wive with thee.

v17; Bring forth with thee every thing that is with thee, of all flesh, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth; that they may breed abundantly in the earth, and be fruitful, and multiply upon the earth.

~219,515 days!

dry earth

v13; And it came to pass in the 601st year, in the 1st month, the 1st day of the month, the waters were dried up from off the earth: and Noah removed the covering of the ark, and looked, and, behold, the face of the ground was dry. (confusing verse for me, I believe it means on Noah’s 601st year of life… it is tough for me to imagine that they sat in the ark for 601 years.)

v14; And in the 2nd month, on the 7th and 20th day of the month, was the earth dried.(another tough verse, the 7th and 20th it stopped raining?, what could dry the earth except for the sun?)

Look what the dove finds…

Olive leaf…close up

v9; The dove found no rest for the sole of her foot, and she returned unto him in the ark, for the waters were on the face of the whole earth: then he put forth his hand, and took her in unto him into the ark. (The dove was a female he set out.)

v10; And he stayed yet other 7 days; and sent forth the dove out of the ark. ( yes “other seven days” is how the bible words it.)

v11; The dove came in to him in the evening; and, lo, in her mouth was an olive leaf plucked off: so Noah knew that the waters were abated from off the earth.

v12; And he stayed yet another 7 days; and sent forth that dove; which returned not again unto him any more. (They stayed in the ark 14 days on top of the mountain dealing with the dove.)

The Raven & The Dove

The Raven and the Dove

v6; And it came to pass at the end of 40 days, that Noah opened the window of the ark which he had made:

v7; He sent forth a raven, which went to and fro, until the waters were dried up from off the earth. (The raven was the 1st thing off the ark. And it just kept flying until the earth dried?)

v8; Also he sent forth a dove from him, to see if the waters were abated from off the face of the ground; (The dove was 2nd off the ark. Why did he send 2 birds?)

God Remembered

CHAPTER 8

v1; And God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the cattle that was with him in the ark:

and God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters assuaged; (what does assuaged mean?)

v2; The fountains also of the deep an the windows of heaven were stopped,

and the rain from heaven was restrained;

v3; And the waters returned from off the earth continually: ( This is a tough sentence for me to understand. The water is receding or evaporating? But it had returned to where it came from.)

and after the end of the 150 days the waters were abated. (What does abated mean?)

v21; And all the flesh that moved upon the earth, both of foul, and of cattle, and of beast, and of every creeping thing that creepth upon the Earth, and every man:

v22; All in whose nostrils was the breath of life, of all that was in the dry land, died.

v23; And every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and the creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven; And they were destroyed from the earth: and Noah only remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark.

v24; the waters prevailed on the earth an 150 days.

The water

v17; The flood was 40 days upon the Earth. The water increased and bare up the ark, (after the Lord shut him in the flood came, no mention of rain yet.)

and it was lift up above the Earth

v18; The waters prevailed, and increase greatly upon the earth; and the ark went upon the face of the waters.

v19; The water prevailed exceedingly upon the earth; and all the high hills, that were under the whole heaven, were covered.

v20; 15 cubits did the waters prevail; and the mountains were covered.

my first Bible 1980

My Bible starts…

Noah, Shem, Ham and Japheth, the 3 sons of Noah and Noah’s wife and the 3 wives of his sons are with them in the ark.

v14; They, and every beast after his kind, (what beast are after his(Noah) kind?)

and all the cattle after their kind,

and every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind,

and every fowl after his kind,

every bird of every sort.

v15; They went to Noah in the ark,

2 and 2 of all flesh, wherein is the breath of life.

v16; and they that went in, went in male and female of all flesh,

as God had commanded him: (So Noah communicated with the animals to walk in male an female because God told him to)

and the Lord shut him in. (Is their a difference between God and the Lord? Why do they use two different titles in the same verse?)
